
At stake is the organization of the 2024 World University Canoeing Championships in Montemor-o-Velho, which will have FADU Portugal as the Organizing Committee.
From August 21 to 24, 2024, Montemor-o-Velho will host the World University Canoeing Championships. FADU Portugal, as the Organizing Committee, hosted FISU officials from March 13 to 15 on a technical visit to prepare for the event.
During the visit, Paulo Sivieri (FISU World University Championship Department Staff) and Zeljko Rajkovic (FISU Technical Delegate) had the opportunity to view and visit the dining areas planned for the event, as well as the teams’ accommodation, both infrastructures at the University of Coimbra.
During the three-day visit, several working meetings were held with the partners of the event’s organizing committee, namely the Coimbra Academic Association (AAC), represented by its President, Renato Daniel, and Vice-President, Diogo Lopes, as well as with the University of Coimbra, through UC Sport, represented by the UC Pro-Rector, Filipa Godinho, and through the UC Social Action Services, represented by its Administrator, Leonardo Vicente.
In addition, it was also possible to visit the Nautical Center of Montemor-o-Velho, where the competition will take place, holding a technical working meeting with the Portuguese Canoeing Federation, represented by the Vice-President, Ricardo Machado and the Secretary-General, Marcos Oliveira, as well as with the Municipality of Montemor-o-Velho, represented by the Councillor for Sport, Décio Matias, the Director of the Nautical Center, Vasco Cavaleiro, the Head of Division of the Department of Sport and Education, José Charro and the Logistics Technician of the Nautical Center, Ricardo Freire.
FADU Portugal’s President, Ricardo Nora, Vice-President, Diogo Salgado Braz, Secretary General and Head of Ceremonies and Protocol, Arménio Coelho, Event Manager, Marco Oliveira, Media and Communications Director, Pedro Pinho, Volunteer Manager, Diogo Lopes, Transport Manager, Eva Claro and Head of Medical and Doping Services, Vasco Couceiro, accompanied the technical visit.
